The International Wood Products Journal are pleased to launch a Best Paper Prize to be awarded annually to recognise the paper published in the peer-reviewed journal which in the judgement of the Editors makes the greatest contribution to the field. The selection criteria are; the originality of the research, contribution to the field of wood science, and quality of the article. The first author of the paper will receive a one-year subscription to International Wood Products Journal and £500 will be distributed between first authors and co-authors.
The journal editors are pleased to offer free access to the winning article of the inaugural 2017 prize for a limited time.

The research in this paper brought together a multi-disciplinary team of researchers which all brought a unique aspect to the topic of modeling load transfer in the wood adhesive bond interphase.
