Stochastic Models is pleased to appoint Mark S. Squillante as Editor-in-Chief.
Mark S. Squillante is a Distinguished Research Staff Member and Area Head of stochastic processes, optimization and control within mathematical sciences at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center (USA). He also serves as Director of the center for optimization under uncertainty research across IBM Research, and has held or holds adjunct faculty and visitor positions at various academic institutions. He is an elected fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), and he serves as Chair of IFIP WG 7.3.
He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Mathematical Society (AMS), Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability, Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), and Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). He has served or currently serves on the editorial boards of Operations Research, Performance Evaluation, Stochastic Models, and Transactions on Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems, as well a serving on a National Research Council committee sponsored by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. His research interests broadly concern mathematical foundations of the analysis, modeling and optimization of the design and control of complex stochastic systems, including stochastic processes, probability theory, and stochastic optimization and control, as well as their broad applications in the sciences (including natural, data, social and computer), technology, computing and communications, operations and management, and business.
