Consumption Markets and Culture

The “Marketplace Icons” section of Consumption Markets & Culture features short papers which explain a basic aspect of the marketplace – something that we cannot imagine living without. The series is intended to provide concise, useful, thought-provoking reflections on a set of icons essential to consumption markets and/or culture. The papers generally focus on categories, not brands – so smartphones, not iPhones, sports cars, not Porsche. Some will feature objects, such as the electric guitar; others will emphasize concepts, such as gifts or credit cards.
