The Relationship between Intelligence and Policymaking: Three Decades of Insight Intelligence and National Security

Intelligence and National Security

Recent events in the United States have focused media and public attention on the relationship between intelligence agencies and the president. With so much of the current debate being played out in the ‘here and now’ world of the television networks and social media, it is important to understand that such tensions are not unprecedented, although it is rare for the relationship to be so acrimonious and so public. This collection of articles provides insight into current thinking on the matter as well as a very useful retrospective view of how this interface has been analysed in the past. We hope these articles will provide a useful resource for those looking at the interface between policy and intelligence, and encourage further contributions to the debate.

All included articles below will be free to access via this page until the end of September.
