Spotlight on Pancreatic Cancer. Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is a very aggressive disease with a high metastatic potential, which typically has poor prognosis and clinical outcome in patients, with five-year survival rates of patients typically less than 6%. Sustained cell growth in pancreatic adenocarcinoma, maintained by glucose and glutamine metabolism, is commonly prompted by the KRAS oncogene with approximately 90% of pancreatic cancer cases thought to be driven by KRAS mutations. However, current strategies to target KRAS directly have been largely unsuccessful which has prompted the pursuit of novel therapeutic targets. Visit this page for the full research.

A new Impact Factor for Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery. Last month the Journal Citation Report compiled by Thomson Reuters was released. The annual report is the subject of much scrutiny, principally because it provides a metric by which virtually all academic journals measure their performance – impact factor. A notable highlight in this year’s report on 2015’s citations was Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery. The journal, celebrating its twelfth birthday this year, saw its impact factor rise from 4.840 to 5.434, taking it to the top of the ever-competitive Expert Collection league table. Find out more.

HIV: where are how is treatment changing? According to the World Health Organisation, approximately 36.9 million people were living with HIV at the end of 2014. Whilst increased awareness has contributed to the rate of new infection, which has decreased by 24% between the year 2000 and 2015, there is still no cure for infected patients. This, in conjunction with increasing drug resistance, has led to a large investment into drug development to find therapies that will better manage the disease. Read on to access relevant papers.
