International Journal of Forest Engineering Celebrates 25 Years of Publication

'2014 was a magnificent landmark in the history of the International Journal of Forest Engineering (IJFE), with 25 years having passed since the journal was established.

The journal was born in response to an emerging need of scientific journal dedicated to forest engineering in which to report the results of their research, and to disseminate these findings back to the industry. Therefore, Jeremy Rickards with the University of New Brunswick launched IJFE in August 1989. Since then, more than 300 peer-reviewed articles on various topics have been published. To preserve the legacy of IJFE, a jubilee text has been authored by all five of the Editors-in-Chief during the 25 years. In it you will find the history of IJFE management and development, told by the five Editors that have steered the journal throughout the years. Naturally, we also pay tribute to the many contributors, we analyse the development in publication, and we look ahead for IJFE as well as for forest engineering as a discipline.

I’m sure you will enjoy the jubilee text on the legacy and the future of IJFE!'
