Wood Material Science & Engineering

After Finland became an independent state on 6 December 1917, it strengthened its links to Sweden, including in the field of forestry and wood processing. Finland and Sweden are the two most forested countries in the European Union, and have a long tradition of building with wood.

In the field of wood science and engineering in 2017, researchers in both countries cooperate across the border to solve research questions and to develop wood as a building material that fits in to a sustainable society. This selection of articles is written by Finnish and Swedish researchers and highlights the research, and collaboration, that is going on today.

These articles will be free to access until the end of June 2018.
