The International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS) invites submissions of papers arising out of the ‘Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Environmental Research’ (UAS4Enviro2018) conference. Papers recommended for publication by independent reviewers will be published in a special issue of IJRS, titled Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Environmental Research.
Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones, have become a key platform for remote sensing data acquisition. Although UAVs have been available for a number of years, continued rapid technological advancements are opening new opportunities in environmental monitoring and remote sensing. Major developments are resulting in drones that are more efficient, and constantly improving image processing and analysis techniques are facilitating routine mapping over large areas.
This special issue seeks to explore the potential of UAV technology for remote sensing applications in a wide range of fields, such as agriculture, coastal area studies, water quality, forestry, urban mapping, disaster response, terrain mapping, and other ecological and geological monitoring applications. In addition, the special issue addresses theoretical and applied innovations in processing techniques, including topics such as positional accuracy, feature fusion, mosaicking, and 3D modeling.
The ‘Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Environmental Research’ (UAS4Enviro2018) conference will be held at the University of Split, FESB, Croatia from 27 to 29 June 2018. The conference will feature the latest developments of various UAV sensors, the most recent UAV data processing techniques, and UAV applications in different fields of photogrammetry and remote sensing.
This special issue will serve as the inaugural issue for a new IJRS section, to be called Drones.
How to Submit your Manuscript
All submissions will be peer reviewed according to the International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS) guidelines. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published or be under review elsewhere.
Prospective authors should consult the Instructions for Authors page on the journal homepage for guidelines and information on paper formatting and submission.
Authors should submit manuscripts using the IJRS manuscript central system at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tres. Please choose 'IJRS Special Issue Paper' from the 'Manuscript Type' picklist on the submission form, irrespective of the paper type (i.e. do not choose Research Letter, Research Paper, Drones Paper or Review Article). Also, please enter ‘UAS4ENVIRO’ in the space provided on the submission form for the name of the special issue.
IJRS has no page charges, and also does not charge for printing in color, if scientifically necessary. Open access publication is also possible, though a fee is charged for this. Click here for more information about open access options.
Should you have any submission questions, please contact Catherine Murray, Administrator of IJRS.
Deadline for the submission of contributions: 30 October 2018
Expected print publication date: Late spring 2019
Articles will be available online approximately one month after acceptance, final technical review and the completion of revisions for compliance with journal format. However, the paper copy of the special issue will be published only when all papers are accepted.
