The International Journal of Research & Method in Education is inviting potential guest editors to submit a proposal for a Special Issue to be published in 2019. We are particularly interested to receive proposals from people interested in guest editing an issue on the theme of mixed methods.
Potential guest editors should submit a proposal of no longer than three pages covering the ways the theme will be addressed in the special issue, such as:
- the rationale, timeliness, importance and international interest in mixed methods for educational research
- definition, justification and critique of mixed methods
- different models for combining approaches and innovative combinations for a range of rationales
- the implications of mixed methods particular methodological approaches
- the nature of innovation in mixed methods research.
The proposal should include the proposed title of the special issue, its aims, distinctive approach, and potential contributors to be approached in eliciting submission of papers for peer review. Editors will need to be well positioned to write an editorial that provides a ‘state of play’ introduction to the theme of the issue. If selected, they will be responsible for promoting submissions, nominating peer reviewers and evaluating papers and reviews in accordance with journal guidelines. They will liaise with the editorial board and reviews editors, and ensure delivery of the final manuscript, on time, for the production team.
Proposals should be submitted by email attachment to editors: M.A.Nind@soton.ac.uk & Liz.Todd@ncl.ac.uk by Friday 18th August 2017 and accompanied by a brief CV for the lead guest editor. The successful proposal will be selected by the Editorial Board by Friday 15th September. The Call for papers will need to go out as soon as possible thereafter with a deadline of January 2018 for abstracts and June 2018 for full papers. The final submission will need to be completed by March 2019.
