Risk Assessment and Sexually Abusive Youth: Perspectives and Considerations for the 21st Century

Journal of Child Sexual Abuse

This is a call for papers to professionals who assess, treat, monitor, or supervise sexually abusive youth of all ages, and/or genders, including youth with low intellectual functioning, and those who are judicial officers (i.e., judges, attorneys, and/or probation officers).  Welcomed are manuscripts relating to any of the following topics: 

  • Empirical challenges in constructing accurate, scientifically based risk assessment tools
  • Gender considerations when assessing male, female, and transgender sexually abusive youth
  • Assessing the risk of youth with low intellectual functioning
  • Assessing risk in children under 12 with sexually abusive and/or sexually inappropriate behaviors 
  • Neuropsychological considerations for risk assessment of sexually abusive youth
  • Role of protective factors in risk assessment 
  • Ethical and legal challenges of risk assessment as related to court testimony in cases of juvenile sex offenders (adjudicated and non-adjudicated)

Submission Instructions

Considered Manuscripts submitted for publication in this Special Issue of the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse must be in APA format and limited to 30 pages including references, abstract, tables and figures.
