The Journal of Gerontological Social Work (JGSW) is inviting submissions for a special section that focuses the labor shortage of professionals and para-professionals with specialized training in gerontology and aging.
This includes social workers but also a wide range of professionals and para-professionals who provide support and services to older adults. We encourage manuscript submissions that explore workforce issues directly but also those that present solutions and innovations to address labor shortages in non-traditional ways.
Examples include but are not limited to use of the shared economy, repurposing of programs, redesign of roles and provision of universal training.
The aim of this special section is to better understand workforce shortage issues and to identify innovations in the field. A wide range of topics will be considered.
We encourage authors to inquire if they are unsure if the topic they are considering will fit the special section.
Manuscripts may be submitted as commentaries, brief reports, research manuscripts, conceptual or theoretical analysis, policy analysis or knowledge translation study/activity. All submissions must include discussion of implications for social work practice at the individual, community and/or policy level.
We encourage prospective authors to contact the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Michelle Putnam at firstname.lastname@example.org or the Managing Editor, Dr. Marla Berg-Weger at email@example.com if they have any questions about his call.
The due date for submissions for this special section is December 31, 2018.
