The workshop will explore types, forms and results of practice-led research in Creative Writing, research in Creative and Critical Writing, as well as the relationship between creative writing and the teaching of creative writing in higher education in the UK, USA and beyond.

Workshop led by: Professor Graeme Harper BA MLitt DCA Ph.D.

Graeme is Editor of New Writing: the International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing (Taylor and Francis). He was an AHRC Creative Writing Panelist and Senior Stratetgic Panelist from 2003-2015, and inaugural Chair of Higher Education for the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE), 2008-2011. He holds a DCA from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Ph.D. in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of East Anglia, where he was an ORS scholar. Dr. Harper is a Fellow of the RSA, among other organizations, and is a multi-award winning creative writer. His latest books are Changing Creative Writing in America (MLM, 2017), the forthcoming The Desire to Write (Palgrave, 2018) and Critical Practices in Creative Writing; Creative Exposition (Routledge, 2018). His latest novel is The Japanese Cook (2017). He is currently Professor of Creative Writing and Dean of The Honors College at Oakland University, Michigan, USA.
